Solar-Driven Water Treatment: Re-engineering and Accelerating
Nature's Water Cycle looks at the use of solar energy and in
particular photovoltaic technologies, as a viable, accessible and
sustainable option in the treatment of water. Solar-Driven Water
Treatment: Re-engineering and Accelerating Nature's Water Cycle
provides insight into the different solar powered technologies,
in-depth information about the viability of sunlight in the water
treatment process, the potential environmental implications as well
as the performance, economics, operation and maintenance of the
discussed technologies. Elaborating on the potential issues and
health risks associated with the water purification systems this
reference also covers the need for appropriate technologies in the
present scenario to improve worldwide access to clean drinking
water. Readers will learn the most appropriate technology for their
specific need making this book useful for renewable energy and
environmental engineers in investigating energy efficiency, water
treatment technologies, and the economics of technological change
in the treatment of water by solar technologies.
Encapsulation Technologies for Electronic Applications, Second
Edition, offers an updated, comprehensive discussion of
encapsulants in electronic applications, with a primary emphasis on
the encapsulation of microelectronic devices and connectors and
transformers. It includes sections on 2-D and 3-D packaging and
encapsulation, encapsulation materials, including environmentally
friendly 'green' encapsulants, and the properties and
characterization of encapsulants. Furthermore, this book provides
an extensive discussion on the defects and failures related to
encapsulation, how to analyze such defects and failures, and how to
apply quality assurance and qualification processes for
encapsulated packages. In addition, users will find information on
the trends and challenges of encapsulation and microelectronic
packages, including the application of nanotechnology. Increasing
functionality of semiconductor devices and higher end used
expectations in the last 5 to 10 years has driven development in
packaging and interconnected technologies. The demands for higher
miniaturization, higher integration of functions, higher clock
rates and data, and higher reliability influence almost all
materials used for advanced electronics packaging, hence this book
provides a timely release on the topic.

Illuminates the relationship between Hume the political thinker,
Hume the historian, and Hume the political economist and highlights
the social, economic and institutional changes which he wove into
an innovative theory of causation David Hume's six-volume History
of England: From the Invasion of Julius Caesar to the Revolution in
1688 (1754-61) is probably his most important work as a
constitutional historian and political theorist. Jia Wei's book
shows that the History can be understood in two ways: firstly, as
Hume's own narrative of England's state formation, and secondly, as
his answer to the question of how eighteenth-century Britain could
cope with the challengesof commercial revolution. It illuminates
the relationship between Hume the political thinker, Hume the
historian, and Hume the political economist and highlights the
social, economic and institutional changes which he wove into
aninnovative theory of causation. The first part of the book
considers Hume's account of the fundamental rationale of maritime
trade and England's unique approach to liberty in the modern era.
The second part looks at his views concerning the profound impact
of maritime trade on English politics. From his perspective, the
problem of how to cope with the challenges posed by the commercial
revolution in eighteenth-century Britain was closely linked tothe
question of how transoceanic trade had fundamentally recast English
politics from the sixteenth century onwards. This study shows how
these two narratives were interwoven into Hume's History and will
be of interest to scholars and students not only of David Hume and
political theory but of historiography, eighteenth-century British
history and Enlightenment studies. JIA WEI received her PhD from
the University of Cambridge.

This book offers essential information on basic and translational
research in gastric cancer, while also illustrating potential
opportunities for its application in clinical practice. Gastric
cancer is the fourth-most-common cancer globally and the
second-leading cause of cancer deaths. It is known to be a
heterogeneous disease with varied responses to "one-size-fits-all"
treatments. Expanding our knowledge of cancer cell genetics may
help us to explore more effective treatments in gastric cancer. The
research on molecular mechanisms and its clinical applications,
both presented here, will help readers gain an in-depth
understanding of gastric cancer and its effective treatment. The
book's four sections cover personalized medicine, precise regional
therapy, immunotherapy and nanomedicine in gastric cancer. Each
part presents the state of art, recent advances and the authors'
experiences. Moreover, several interesting cases are described to
demonstrate how gastric cancer patients benefit from translational
research. This informative and attractively presented book on
precision treatment in gastric cancer, including experimental
findings and clinical treatment options, offers a valuable resource
for oncologists and graduate students working in the field of
gastric cancer.

Wavelet analysis has been one of the major research directions in
science in the last decade. More and more mathematicians and
scientists join this exciting research area. Certainly, wavelet
analysis has had a great impact in areas such as approximation
theory, harmonic analysis, and scientific computation. More
importantly, wavelet analysis has shown great potential in
applications to information technology such as signal processing,
image processing, and computer graphics. China has played a
significant role in this development of wavelet analysis as
evidenced by many fruitful theoretical results and practical
applications.A conference on wavelet analysis and its applications
was organized to exchange ideas and results with international
research groups at Zhongshan University (Guangzhou, China). This
volume contains the proceedings from that conference. Comprised
here are selected papers from the conference, covering a wide range
of research topics of current interest. Many significant results
are included in the study of refinement equations and refinable
functions, properties and construction of wavelets, spline
wavelets, multi-wavelets, wavelet packets, shift-invariant spaces,
approximation schemes and subdivision algorithms, and tilings.
Several papers also focus on applications of wavelets to numerical
solutions of partial differential equations and integral equations,
image processing and facial recognition, computer vision, and
feature extraction from data.
This book is aimed to lead the teenager to understand modern
poetries from the perspective of theme and technique by authors.
